Private Hire - Special - You Pick The Trail - Up To 11 bikes/e-bikes

From NZD NZ$2,000.00
  • Duration: 7 Hours (approx.)
  • Product code: PV18FG

Private hire is $2,000 per day for a vehicle, host and bikes. Get a group of friends together and lets go riding with a Qualmark Gold accredited trail company - your satisfaction is guaranteed. Our normal $250 Queenstown pickup charge will be waived for all rides until the end of January 2025.

Private Hire includes a nzbiketrails Guest Experience Manager (GEM's) to host the day and drive you as required. You choose the trail and we provide and manage everything else - including the luxury transport, a pickup of your party from a single location (Wanaka or Queenstown), e-bikes and all the equipment required. The only things you need to remember is your weather appropriate clothing to keep you cosy (its all about layers!) and a bottle of water to drink along the way.

From both Wanaka (and Queenstown) we can offer the following rides:

  • The Lake Dunstan Trail - This is a favourite. 42km of Grade 1-3 riding. Probably the best one-day ride of all of NZ's Official NZ Great Rides. nzbiketrails is an Official Partner of the Lake Dunstan Trail and this NZ Great Ride which means that we actively donate back to the trail for every rider that we take. We can pickup your party in Wanaka, or Queenstown, for this trail (single pick-up location).
  • The Best 50km of the Otago Rail Trail - This will include the Poolburn tunnels and Chatto Creek - the Chatto Creek Tavern is a great stop before heading off to Clyde if you want to. Lots of opportunities to shorten the ride for parts of the group along the way if everyone doesn't want to ride the full distance - up to a lunch stop at Chatto Creek is 30km and a great place for some guests to stop riding and to be shuttled back to meet the rest of the party in Clyde.
  • Wanaka and Hawea Trails - We have a great couple of rides over in Wanaka including the Gladstone Track along the front of Lake Hāwea, down the Hāwea River Trail to Albert Town, a quick coffee and cake stop (not included) at the Pembroke Patisserie before heading up the Clutha River along the trail all the way back to Wanaka - Visit the one of the five most photographed trees in the World, #thatwanakatree, and then finish up at the Edgewater Hotel bar for a celebratory drink - please note: food and drink is not included. This could be a long day from Queenstown as nzbiketrails are likely to travel around the base of the ranges (90 minute drive each way) rather than crossing the Crown Ranges due to the risk of snow at higher levels. If you are staying in Queenstown we would recommend one of the other three rides as a first choice.
  • Roxburgh Trail - This trail is a stunning ride at any time of the year and we will work with the jet-boat provider to manage your transfer along the trail between Dr's Point and Shingle Creek. This part of the trail cannot be ridden and a boat transfer is necessary (at an additional cost).  During the Winter we will use the Dunstan Explorer boat, which is covered, so this trail is now rideable throughout the year. The boat Skippers give you a history of this gold-rush gorge and will show you some of the buildings that were abandoned at the end of the gold rush. Guests who have ridden both the Dunstan and Roxburgh trail with nzbiketrails tend to have this one as a favourite so if you have ridden Dunstan and loved it you will love this one as well.
  • Gibbston Valley Wine Trail - Bike the wineries along the Gibbston Valley Trail. Riding between 15km and 26km enjoy the wineries along the trail. Wine tastings, drink and food costs are not included.

Please select the relevant boat upgrade for both the Dunstan and Roxburgh Gorges in the options page on each booking if required. If no boats are needed (ie you choose another trail) please just skip this step. The Dunstan Trail does not require a boat to complete the trail - this is an optional upgrade to our Ultimate Experience. The Roxburgh Gorge Trail DOES REQUIRE a boat to complete the trail as there is a 14km of the route that requires a boat transfer from Dr's Point to Shingle Creek where there is no trail currently available.
